Significant jump in complaints against e-commerce firms

The rapid rise in domestic e-commerce business in the recent years has also resulted in a significant jump in the complaints against the sellers. According to a government data, the volume of complaints against e-commerce companies registered with the National Consumer Helpline rose to 50,767 in 2016-17 – a sharp rise from 23,955 formal complaints in the previous year. In 2014-15 fiscal, the volume of formal complaints had stood at 13,812.
