Accepting the recommendations made by the steering committee on Greenfield Airports,  Ministry of Civil Aviation recently accorded site clearance approval to the Greenfield International Airport at Purander, Pune. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) last week cleared the upgradation programme of three airports in the country – Chennai, Guwahati & Lucknow Airports.  The expansion programme basically includes upgradation of integrated terminals at these airports and on a cumulative basis, it would cost around Rs 5000 crore to the exchequer. Maharastra to get new airport this year

Maharashtra, which presently has 3 international and 13 domestic airports in its portfolio, will add a new air hub at ParuleChipi in Sindhudurg district in 2018. Work on the project is expected to be completed in June this year, before the onset of monsoon and the Ganesh Festival, which will begin in September this year. The Government of India, the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the World Bank recently  signed a $210 million loan agreement for the Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Project.
