Global internet giant Google Inc. has made a subtle move in India’s fast growing home food delivery and services space. According to a recently published report in The Mint, Google has launched the Areo app that would as an aggregator for food delivery and homer services start-ups in India. This app will initially benefit customers in Mumbai and Bangalore before its larger roll out. According to the report, Google has already partnered with companies such as Box8, Freshmenu and Faasos for food delivery and UrbanClap and Zimmber for home services.
“We are constantly experimenting with ways to better serve our users in India. In this case, Areo makes everyday chores and ordering food easier by bringing together useful local services like ordering food or hiring a cleaner in one place,” a company spokesperson confirmed to the newspaper in an email response.
