Global furniture giant Ikea, which is on a rapid fire expansion course with large scale stores in Indian metros, has planned to invest Rs 100 crore in expanding its warehouse base. According to a recent report by a leading daily, the company is primarily looking to take additional space in Chakan near Pune to feed its stores in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, Gurgaon and Bangalore which will be unveiled in the near run. .
According to the report, the size of the warehouse in Chakan is expected to be over 3 lakh sqft unit and it will be set up as per global standards. The unit will also act as the distribution center for the proposed online foray for Ikea for Indian customers.
