Country’s first cargo policy is on the anvil. This was revealed by the Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu at a seminar in Delhi last week while stating that the government is committed to drastically change the logistics regime in the country to boost all kinds of trade. The policy is being prepared by the logistics department within the ministry which was recently created.
“We are preparing a policy on cargo. It will be the first time that the country will have a cargo policy. The document is in the final stages of preparation and please give your inputs so they can be incorporated,” the minister said. He further added that his ministry is working on a dedicated portal for logistics sector which will act as single point online system for all kinds of clearances from different authorities.
