FedEx commits further $450 million investment in Memphis hub

Even as the recent scrapping of FedExAmazon business deal has grabbed the attention everywhere, the global logistics giant has announced further investment plans at its global hub in Memphis. Early this month, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee joined FedEx executives to announce an additional $450 million investment which will accelerate the modernization and expansion project of the global hub. In March 2018, the company had committed over $1.5 billion in the expansion and modernization of the hub.

The FedEx World Hub is supported 11,000 team members and 163 aircraft gates and it is the largest sortation facility in the FedEx Express global network. FedEx has approved additional to meet the growing customer demand. Raj Subramaniam, president and chief operating officer of FedEx Corp commented,  “Our additional investment will accelerate this modernization project, ensuring that we continue to provide outstanding service to our customers around the world and the best workplace for the thousands of FedEx team members who make our Memphis World Hub operations possible every day and night.”
