Gujarat and Punjab have occupied top two slots in the latest logistics index chart as mentioned in a government report (LEADS, 2019) recently released by the Commerce Minister Piyus Goyal. The chart denotes the efficient systems the states have put in place to promote trade and commerce.
Andhra Pradesh has grabbed the third slot on the list while Himachal Pradesh is at the bottom of the chart. The report, Logistics Ease Across Different States 2019, has been prepared with the help of consultancy firm Deloitte. It aims to project the gaps on the infrastructure and policy side in different states which could be effectively responded in the future to bring down the transaction cost. The index has been prepared on the basis of evaluation of systems in states on nine critical parameters – infrastructure, quality of logistics, services, timeliness of cargo delivery, regulatory process, safety of cargo, etc.
Meanwhile, among the union territories, Chandigarh has topped the chart followed by Delhi and Puducherry. Last year, the top ranking among UTs had gone to Daman and Diu.
