Traders body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Mastercard have joined hands to promote digital payment among the traders community in the country. At an event marked by the presence of Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Former Indian Cricket Team Captain M. S. Dhoni last week in New Delhi, CAIT and Mastercard launched a “ Team Cashless Campaign“ which would aim at bringing both traders and consumers in alignment with digital payment modes.
CAIT in association with Mastercard had earlier launched a digital payment campaign in 2014 and held about 300 conferences across India resulting into onboarding of about 35 % traders in digital payments landscape. Now it plans to run Team Cashless India campaign on the same lines and have set a target of adoption and acceptance of digital payments by 50 lakh traders by March, 2020. On the occasions, senior officials of CAIT also urged the Government to waive off the bank charges levied on digital transactions.
