Alstom to provide bulk freight locomotives from Madhepura unit

Indian Railways has entered into Procurement cum Maintenance Agreement with Madhepura Electric Locomotive (MELPL), a joint venture of Indian Railways and global rail transportation major Alstom. Ministry of Railways and Alstom had earlier signed a mega 3.5 billion Euro deal to manufacture to manufacture 800 electric locomotives for freight service and its associated maintenance in 2015. Exports in October 2019 were USD 26.38 billion, as compared to USD 26.67 billion in October 2018, exhibiting a negative growth of 1.11 per cent. In Rupee terms, exports were Rs. 1,87,382.29 crore in October 2019, as compared to Rs. 1,96,406.43crore in October 2018, registering a negative growth of 4.59 per cent. Adani Ports and SEZ recently released its H1 FY20 report which earmarks 9 percent growth in cargo throughput at 109 MMT. According to a company release, “Ports across all the three regions registered strong growth.
