Blue Dart, domestic air cargo major, has reported operating on new routes in the recent days to ensure essential supplies as part of its Business Contingency and Continuity Plan (BCCP) to assist in the grand national battle against Covid-19 outbreak. The BCCP includes pandemic operating plans and preventive actions to ensure least disruption in company’s services to its customers. For this, Blue Dart has set up a Quick Response Team which is working 24×7 towards and the operations of its six 757 Boeing freighters have been prioritised to deliver medical equipment & pharmaceuticals amongst other shipments.
Driven by the new strategy, Blue Dart operated in two new air routes recently- Guwahati and Pune – which are not a part of its normal schedule. In a press release, the company also claimed exploring international charter to support critical government requirement.
Balfour Manuel, Managing Director, Blue Dart Express commented said, “Our QRT is responding exceptionally to the situation & industries we are working with have appreciated the response that Blue Dart has been able to put together at short notice. We are working round the clock to deliver in a time-bound manner so that the fight against the pandemic is supplemented & multiplied. Ensuring the air life-line of the nation our aircrafts are deployed.”
The company claimed focusing more on the delivery of testing kits, reagents, enzymes, medical equipment (ventilators), N95 respirators and surgical masks, gloves, & other items requisitioned by state governments in the recent days. “Customers such as Siemens, Boston scientific, Sun pharmaceuticals and several others have used our aviation service to move essential medical supplies,” the press release maintained.
