Kolkata port implements Logistics Data Bank

Logistics Data Bank (LDB), a project run a by the joint venture entity formed by Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and Japanese IT company NEC Corporation,  has been implemented at Kolkata Port. A formal announcement was made the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) last Saturday. Logistics Data Bank service entails real time tracking of the containers with the use of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. ADB’s $300 million loan to support road infrastructure

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India, last week signed a $300 million Loan Agreement to support lending by India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL). Kenichi Yokoyama, Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission who signed the agreement for ADB, said that ADB funding is expected to fund at least 13 sub-projects through IIFCL, involving roads and renewable power generation. Trial with 12 trucks ferrying Gogha- Dahej Ro-Pax service

The Prime Minister’s dream project of Gogha- Dahej Ro-Pax Ferry service is all ready to start under the Sagarmala programme of the Ministry of Shipping. In a successful trial run conducted recently, 12 loaded trucks were transported by the Ro- Pax ferry from Dahej to Gogha across the Gulf of Cambay, via the sea route. IWAI’s Majuli Ro-Ro service to drastically cut down travel distance

Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) will be starting a new Roll on-Roll off (Ro-Ro) facility in collaboration with the Government of Assam to provide the much-needed connectivity for Majuli Island. This Ro-Ro facility will cut down the circuitous road route of 423 KMs that trucks take from Neamati to Majuli Island via Tezpur Road Bridge, by limiting the distance to only 12.7 KM with the use of river route.
